Plenty of twists and turns in a "Bonnie and Clyde" style post crime scramble. The dated language makes it difficult to follow at times. Plus characters pop in/out towards the end that have uncertain motivations. The ending was interesting after reading the Wikipedia article, but confusing when I read from the book. Doc is a great character to follow, but I now understand how 2 movie versions of this book were met with mediocre praise.
