Sometimes reading a Jeff VanderMeer book feels like listening to that song from the early 90s "Informer" by Snow. It's a great song that is instantly catchy. Everybody loved it, but basically nobody had any idea what it was about - other than an informer - because they had no idea what the lyrics were. The Strange Bird is about a strange bird. I honestly can't really tell you the rest of it because it was mostly weird shit involving networked blue foxes, a magician, and a very creepy guy, who is full of mice that pour out of him when he gets injured and apparently suture and restore his wounds.
