A few of these essays are worth 4 stars, in particular the titular one "Zombie, Spaceship, Wasteland." For the most part I appreciate Oswalt's dense writing and excellent vocabulary and the way he has of detailing down to the smallest, bitter tidbit. There were a handful of stories that I could've done without, in particular the ones in the middle involving the (it seems) greetings cards that should've been. Other than "Zombie..." I liked the story about his mentally ill uncle. The personal and poignant quality to it made it great.
